Charity Car Wash Map (“we”) runs charitycarwashmap.com. This policy explains what we collect and why. Short version: we collect as little as we can, we don’t sell personal information, and anything you post in a listing is public.

Listings are public

Everything you put in a car wash listing — title, description, organization, location, times, links and pictures — is shown publicly on the site and may be shared, indexed by search engines, and shown on maps. Don’t include private information you don’t want public.

What we collect

Optional email and profile details. If you add an email (to get your manage link or sign in), we store it privately with any optional profile fields you choose to fill in (name, organization, website, phone, city). We never show your email publicly.
Technical data. Like most websites, we log IP addresses and browser details when you post, report or sign in, to prevent spam and abuse.
Location. To show nearby car washes, we use an approximate location derived from your IP address by our hosting provider. Your device’s precise location is used only if you tap “Near me,” only in your browser, to search — we don’t store it.
Car wash alerts. If you ask to be emailed about car washes near a place, we store your email, that place (rounded to the map point you chose) and the distance. You confirm by email first, and every alert has a one-click unsubscribe.
Browser storage. We save the car washes you post (and your last search area) in your browser’s local storage so you can find them again. You can clear this anytime.
Cookies. A sign-in cookie if you sign in. If we enable analytics or advertising (such as Google Analytics or Google AdSense), those services may set their own cookies; see Google’s policies for details.

How we use it

To run the site, send the emails you ask for (sign-in links and manage links), keep listings accurate, and prevent abuse. We don’t sell personal information.

Service providers

We use Cloudflare (hosting and security), an email delivery provider, OpenStreetMap-based services for maps and address lookup, and, where enabled, Google for analytics and ads.

Your choices

You can edit or delete your listings with your manage link, turn off optional emails in your account, or ask us to delete your account by emailing [email protected].

Children

The site is for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. Organizers should be adults or post with an adult’s permission.
